Sometimes you want to have a set of things you can edit that is seeded with a set of Search results, so that you don't have to build it by hand.
For example, if I want a Wagn to show all of the cards that are readable only by Admins, I might not want it muddied it up with all of the cards that come with a Wagn by default. So on English, this feature would let you convert a Search of all cards into a Pointer called something like "all default cards" (when you add cards to English you'd have to redo the conversion before migrating), and then your Search to find cards only readable by Admins could easily exclude all of the default cards. Leaving "all default cards" a search obviously wouldn't work, and in any case, you might want to fine-tune it by hand.
I think I had a tag for things like this that have to do with managing data, but can't recall it at the moment.
I don't think "default" is nearly as interesting as the list of cards that have only been edited by wag bot.

... in most contexts.

In any case, do you see the usefulness of Search -> Pointer conversions?
