Problem with image cards+discussion

re: slowness, we've actually just done some optimizations that should be on github in a day or so that make a big difference on pages rendering lots of cards.

re: images:  can you see what URLs it's trying to access for the images?  do you think your image processing library is working ok?  I believe the default is to save image files locally, so you can check and see if the file / url it's trying to access is actually there.  if so, it could be a permission problem..
