Very cool. One minor issue is that if you drag and item up (or down) quickly and beyond the list and then let go, the item you're dragging can end up not at the top (or bottom) of the list, but somewhere else, e.g.:

More seriously, using the delete X to drag is highly incongruous, how about a separate icon to the left of each text box? If this makes sense, is it something you'd want to do now, or should I ticket something like add draggable thumb to Pointers ?

you can already click anywhere around the item to drag it, including the area to the left. I don't like the idea of adding anything visually busy, but that could be done in a skin if desired.

More generally, I think we should probably start gathering ideas for skins (and for discussion for the default skin, in case other people think the drag icons are really valuable) in some place that isn't in the development ticket area. I'm hoping the period between 1.9 and 2.0 will be all about playing with interface in different skins and I want to engage a lot of people in experimentation, so we need an area with very little developer-speak but lots of designer-speak.

kind of surprised about the out-of-the-box thing. it's a standard jquery ui tool, and I'm just using the default behavior. I might look to make sure there's not further config to play with, but I don't expect to have time to dig in and really fix that any time soon.
