It would be nice if you could switch from any (or as many as possible) other systems to Wagn without changing canonical URLs, or breaking subdirectory links.

not sure I'm bought in enough yet to stand behind "design principle," especially since we're already in egregious violation left and right, but it would be great if that were true. Probably a 3.0 priority if anything.
I don't think we want card names that end with recognized extensions. Otherwise we can't infer response types from the extension in case someone wanted to see it as another type.
We could go to the card if it exists, and otherwise infer.

A more thought-out solution for the case of files: implement hosted files. Something similar could be done for non-Wagn cgis.
